Day 8: Leading From the Premium
🎧 Day 08 · Riley narration
Make someone else capable of their best work
The highest-leverage thing you will ever do is not your best work. It is the moment you make someone else capable of theirs.
The ceiling of the best doer
No matter how strong your premium, you are one person with one set of hours. The best individual contributor eventually hits a wall — capped at their own capacity, a bottleneck because everything flows through them. The multiplier becomes the reason other people produce more value.
From guide to multiplier
A guide tells people what to do, which keeps them dependent. A multiplier makes a person more than they were before — moving from having the answers to growing the people who will find better ones.
Delegate ownership, not tasks
Most leaders delegate tasks — a chore handed off while the thinking stays with them. The multiplier delegates ownership — the whole problem, and the authority to solve it. It sounds like: "I am entrusting you to find your own boiling point in leading this. How can I get out of your way?"
Why multipliers outlast experts
The expert's value dies at the edge of their own capacity and leaves when they leave. The multiplier's value compounds — every person they elevate goes on to do work the multiplier never touched.
Today's one-degree shift
Hand one person ownership of a whole problem this week — not a task, the problem.
